Located at 3721 San Pablo Dam Road, PJ’s has been a beloved El Sobrante institution since 1956. When the Givogri family purchased PJ’s in 1980, it quickly became the local hangout for friends, family, and neighbors. Now, the Padia family, longtime customers and friends, have worked tirelessly to restore PJ’s to its former glory. Their vision is to create a place where the community can continue to gather for delicious food, meaningful connection, and lasting memories.
Leading the kitchen is Chef Sergio Nic, who brings more than 25 years of experience in the Bay Area, including roles at Alioto’s, The Warwick Hotel, and Hotel Whitcomb. Chef Sergio is renowned for his mastery of Italian cuisine, from Carbonara to pizzas and handmade pastas, ensuring every guest enjoys an authentic and flavorful experience. “Cooking has always been my way of connecting with people,” said Chef Sergio. “Food has a special power—it brings comfort, it celebrates joy, and it brings a community together. I’m thrilled to bring my creativity and experience to PJ’s, a place that already holds such a special place in the hearts of so many.”
While PJ’s enters a new chapter, its history remains at the heart of this reopening. The team is committed to honoring the restaurant’s legacy and invites the community to share stories, photographs, and memories. Submissions can be sent to info@pjs-restaurant.com to help document and preserve this rich history. “Since 1956, PJ’s has been more than a restaurant—it’s been a gathering place where memories were made,” said the Padia family. “We are proud to bring back this tradition and look forward to welcoming you into the new PJ’s.”
PJ’s invites everyone to join in celebrating its return, where timeless traditions meet fresh flavors. Reserve your table today and be part of the next chapter in PJ’s story.
